A wolf lay in the snow, its fur matching perfectly to the wintry white of its surroundings. Its large head was placed between its equally huge paws and there it slept peacefully unaware of the cold that engulfed the entire valley and left it in ice. The wolf breathed slow and steady, the rhythmic way of deep sleep. It need not worry of invading wolves, or the prying eyes of man, for they could not come this far into the winter tundra, for only the wild caribou, seals and the occasional polar bear ventured this far northerly. The wind picked up, whispering its eerie song, the song of the wolf. On most days it howled in its fury but not this day, today it lay content to whisper in the lone wolf's ears. Whisper of times long past, of greatness that was, of faraway lands. Sicarius... The wolf's eyes shot open and they were a seagreen...

To attack, or not to attack.
That was the question.
Large body placed low to the ground, long pointed ears pinned against his boxy head. The predator lay behind a log, two piercing yellow eyes watching a fawn. It's brown body floundered its way to the water's edge, leaning town to lick at the cool water. Muscles tensing, he watched, fighting back the urge to simply leap out and attack. He had too, lack of food due to his more than idiot decision to abandon his pack lowered his kill count. Tail flicking, he fought back the monster inside of him, hunger fighting with instincts to catch prey.
OoC/ Cruddy intro, I'll fix it later.

The white wolf rose, its ears pinned back. It was a long time since she had heard that name...Sicarius. Flexing her paws, she studied her surroundings, slightly confused. The sky was crystal clear and a flesh blanket of snow covered the ground, last night's storm left the air fresh and silent. Shaking the snow from her pelt, Sicarius's stomach lurched, reminding her that she had not eaten in quite a while. Sniffing the air, she tried to determine if any prey where close. Nothing, if she wanted food she would have to travel south where food was more bountiful. She moved at a steady run, easily loping over the icy terrain. Coming to a cliff she peered down to a valley below her. It was hidden underneath lush undergrowth and a forest of pine. Slowly, she picked her way down the steep slopes, following a trickling mountain stream. Water from that came from the tundra above fueled the valley. Making a final leap, she landed on the soft mud and gravel of a river bank. It was still early morning, and deer would probably drinking from its cool waters, so Sicarius followed it downstream. The scent of a doe reached her nostrils. Sinking to the ground she crouched through the underbrush, creeping closer to the deer. When it was in sight, she slowed her breath, and waited ready to strike, but then another scent reached her sensitive nose, the scent that was all too familiar. Her heart stopped and she barely dared to breathe. Keeping in the bushes, she closed her eyes and waited.

The fawn lifted its head, ears flicking as it looked down the stream. It's mother was not too far away. D'Artagnan's right paw lifted up, placing itself softly on the shore that was covered with smooth rocks. They clicked together catching the fawn's attention. Shakily, it looked for the hidden threat. D'Artagnan became powered by hunger, bolted out of his hiding spot. Paws landing in the creek a few feet away from the fawn. The deer was a step ahead, it and its mother bolted, leaving the wolf in the creek.
D'Artagnan watched them leave, his frame, usually a healthy 120 pounds. Huge for a wolf. Collapsed into the cold rushing creek. Watching his front paws get distorted by the rushing water, he sighed. It was hopeless, maybe he had finally met his end. Loosing that grace, speed, and that fire that always propelled him. Groaning, he lifted his water soaked and scrawny frame from the water, stumbling across the rocky river to the other side.

Sicarius watched as the doe fled away from the sight of the black wolf. Her legs felt like jelly as she left from her cover in the bushes, her eyes swirling. She groped for her voice, but it cracked and she couldn't speak. All she could do was stare, not daring to believe what she saw. She made herself visible, staring at the black wolf. Would it be him and would he recognize her?

A shaking movement ran down his back, sending water flitting off in different directions. Tiredly, he watched the direction that the deer had disappeared, a small feeling of uneasiness fell over him.
Turning his boxy head to the side, his yellow eyes fell upon an oddly familiar white wolf. He blinked a few times, taking a few seconds to register the image.
Nah. It couldn't be.

Slowly, she moved a few steps forward, but it was too hard. Her legs buckled underneath her and she toppled to the ground. It was very undignified, but she didn't care. Coughing a few times to clear the lump in her throat, she yelled out, "D'Artagnan!"

His ears flickered at his name, A smile crossing his maw. What were the chances?
"Thats my name...Don't wear it out" D'Artagnan remarked, head low as he looked at her, hoping she didn't notice his weak figure, that wouldn't impress her at all. Tail flicking he watched her topple to the ground, not budging an inch, "How has the alphess been?"

She breathed out in a snort and rolled back onto her feet. Her eyes twinkled a variation of colors, ranging between soft green and icy blue. Looking to the side, the light making a large scar across her neck visible, she pondered how to answer the question. "I thought you were dead." she stated simply, glancing back at him she smiled. "You look dead."

"I feel dead" D'Artagna replied, eats flattening as his rear end fell to the ground. Putting him in a sitting position. Yellow eyes flicking to a worm that crawled across a rock, then back to Sicarius.

She was slightly taken aback by his reaction to her, though he had never been one to show emotion. Perhaps he was just like Cypher said he was. She sighed and looked at him, her eyes a bluish seagreen. "Where have you been?" she asked, glancing at the worm he looked at

He didn't mean to be so harsh, it was just a reaction.
"Where have I been? Where have I not been?" He asked, "Between Shay'tan and Rei..I've been running everywhere." D'Artagnan let out a deep breath, not sure to rejoice that Sicarius was back or to be saddened by the fact that she wouldn't be too thrilled to find out he had fallen under his notorious half-brother's command.

She laughed slightly, easing the tension. "How is your brother doing?" she asked, eyes downcast. It was like she had abandoned her pack. Her eyes glazed over as she thought of them. It had been such a long time and she had forgotten herself. She had seen the other side, and was pulled back, left to wonder this world lost and confused. She should be dead, drifting in the mists, but instead she was here for reasons unknown to her. Brining her attention back to her mate, she waited for a reply.

"Rei? He is fine...Found himself a new mate...The northern pack is doing fine... Shay'tan is..uh" D'Artagnan looked over his shoulder, the huge mountains loomed over them in a stalking like fashion. "Hes doing fine also"
D'Artagnan's ears flattened again, he had lost that ferocity, it was filled with a timid weakness, something he always denied. He 'Didn't have a weakness' what a joke that concept was.

Sicarius's eye chilled, almost glowing in a icy blue fury. "Shay'tan..." she repeated. He was the reason she had died, she was sure of it and she hated him for it. Hated him for breaking up her pack and destroying their lives. "So, you have joined your old pack?" she asked in her harsh voice, not quite keeping the contempt from her tone.
